Sports fans are never bored here. Indianapolis is home to a variety of professional sports teams, and, thanks to our close proximity to downtown Indy, Greenwood-area residents are often fanatic, cheering for the:
“The Racing Capital of the World” Indianapolis has developed this nickname thanks in large part to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the world’s largest spectator sporting facility and the only racetrack to have hosted the Indy Racing League, NASCAR and Formula One races. The Speedway has been home to the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” the Indianapolis 500, for more than 100 years. The Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, one of NASCAR’s most coveted races, heats up the track in July. The Speedway is also home to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP motorcycle race, held on its infield road course. Greenwood is just a 25-minute drive from this famous racing action.
